There are a lot of powerful things in the earth. And even though a thing has power it doesn't have power for everything.  Everything needs a particular power to operate in a particular thing.  If the devil can lock you out of prayer and intercession he can keep you from the knowledge of God's power and when/where to apply it.  Because we lack understanding we'll spend more time in the doctor's office than in prayer.  Subsequently, we never receive healing but rather just treat the symptoms.  The only reason that you have that sickness, that depression is because you don't understand the power in you to heal and to bring joy.  If you never take the time to pray and intercede then many of your dilemmas you would never have at all.  The only thing that makes a dilemma a dilemma is the lack of understanding.
 
Prayer and intercession raises your understanding of your connection with God.  Many are faced with things that they can't see their way out of.  All they see is the flesh in it or the mess in it when the revelation is that it's not a mess at all.  It's just the only way God could get you to where he wants you.  When you take the position of prayer and intercession your perception of the Holy Spirit becomes greater.  Because your perception is heightened you become more effective in the earth for fulfilling God's plan. 
 
The church loses its effectiveness when it doesn't walk in prayer and intercession.  If we called Sunday service a prayer meeting, many people would not show up because we don't understand the importance of prayer and intercession. 
It's through prayer that God commissions us to walk in the power that he has given us.
 
Little prayer: little power
Much prayer: much power
No prayer: no Power
 
Power within you is key for your breakthrough in this season.  If you are truly going to make advancement in this season it's going to be because of the power within you.  If you could have gone further than you are by now you would have already done it.  Since you haven't it is evidence that you need more power.  And the only way to get it is through the connection with God via prayer and intercession.  The enemy understands that if he can deter you from prayer and intercession he can keep you from accessing the power.
 
Jude 1:17
17But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
18How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
 
A spirit of prayerlessness has come over the church which is why we see so few miracles.  In the old church Paul could walk through the city and people were healed by his shadow.  But that doesn't come except by much prayer and intercession.
If you want to operate in gods stuff, who are you going to talk to?
You won't have to go to a twelve step program if you just replace your vice with prayer and intercession.  We are too concerned with pleasing our senses.  But that is too short for where God is trying to take you.  You have to let your senses go.
What do you need to do without in order to get where you need to be?  God has things that he wants to do for you.  But you won't even talk to him to figure out what they are.
